Directly responsible for the overall design and illustrative/graphic/visuals for use across the program. Develops and designs all program graphics for communications and messaging collateral, training content, website content, PowerPoint briefings, architecture models/information, written plans and special initiatives.

Actively participates in concept development, provides design direction, and wide-ranging support to Subject Matter Experts and Domain/Portfolio Leads by creating innovative designs to convey program concepts and initiatives. Provides graphic expertise and insights to enhance current graphic services and processes. Recommends innovative methods and techniques in expand graphic functions for projects, especially presentations.

Works collaboratively across the team to manage graphic projects, development and timelines to meet client needs and to meet contract deadlines. Backstops the government POC and the entire Communications Team.

Key Requirements:

? Direct support to the Communications and Training leads and the Web team.

? Demonstrated ability to design and create clear infographics for large concepts and data processes.

? Understand the requirements for 508 compliance.

? Enhanced design capabilities to create infographics based on text content/explanation.

? Ability to proof read and cross check grammar to ensure graphic text is accurate.

? Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Publisher, Visio and PowerPoint.

? Ability to manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines, while providing high quality of work within designs.


? Work with Team Leads to develop graphic concepts and campaigns for various program products (including but not limited to: print, web, digital) and supply copy-editing support as required.

? Contribute to program branding and communication messaging

? Must be flexible to support other workstreams as necessary. Other duties may include writing documentation, project management and coordination, strategic planning, business process improvement, etc.

? Manage program graphic library through graphic naming and storage process via SharePoint

? Design graphics for program projects and products

? Resize, edit, modify, and enhance previously existing graphics used in program products

? Participate in program meetings and team meetings to better understand program content, products, tools and initiatives

? Develop program understanding to apply to graphic development and design

? Assist in web design discussions to provide graphic design expertise and support the Web Team

? Develop graphics to support eight web-based training courses per contract year

? Design infographics to visually explain technical text content

? Recommend design products, processes, plug-ins, software to enhance processes and products where applicable

? Layout and scale photos, marking them for proper screen values for web design and print production

? Organize and maintain database/bibliographic/archival retrieval system of all references used in creation of published materials

? Designs, lays out, and produces graphics such as infographics, concept graphics, process flow graphics, graphs, analytic graphics, charts, web-blurbs, promotions, posters, signs, report covers and other collateral messaging materials

? May handle copyright, reprint, and permission processes

? Prepares layouts, designs, formats for use in publication and /or print design

? Ability to work in a deadline-sensitive environment and capacity to be flexible yet professional

? Other duties as required


? College degree in Graphics Arts preferred or an equivalent of education plus five years of workplace experience.

Skills and Experience:

? Five or more years of graphic arts and publications experience including website design and development, with proven project management skills.

? Strong working knowledge of printing, publishing and/or graphics art procedures and related computer software. Ability to work with a variety of projects and vendors. Portfolio of past work will be requested for review.


? Veterans Affairs (VA) work experience

? Prior network administration/engineering experience on VA contracts

? Active Public Trust, BI clearance

? Microsoft Certification(s) highly desired

The duties of this position require a candidate to successfully receive and maintain a security clearance.

Work Location

Customer site: VA facilities located at the Washington D.C. Veteran Affairs Central Office (VACO), Vermont Ave NW, Washington, DC 20571. Insignia reserves the right to adjust work location based upon mission requirements.
