We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join an experienced team of professionals who provide actionable marketing investment recommendations to our Fortune 500 company clients. The individual must be able to work well in a team environment, juggle multiple work assignments, and meet tight deadlines. The individual should have some experience in quantitative marketing research. The individual should have strong interpersonal skills and show initiative on the job. The Senior Analyst must also be poised and comfortable interacting directly with clients, be a creative problem-solver, and be willing to take conceptual risks.

In their role as part of MediaCom Business Science, the individual will be exposed to the media industry in a unique way. The individual will have the opportunity to work with Mediacom’s internal planning team and a wide range of clients. Working alongside MediaCom directors, the individual will have direct interaction with MediaCom’s and clients’ senior management. Their role will expand beyond traditional analytics into building ad hoc analyses, with the potential to grow into a thought leader.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The individual will be expected to own project work, manage project timelines and deliverables, and run statistical work for the following:

Statistical Modeling:

  • Build econometric models using regression methods, and forecasting models
  • Use R, SQL and Tableau for data manipulation, analysis, modeling, and reporting
  • Knowledge if Python and SPSS is a plus
  • Run ad-hoc “what if scenarios” and simulations to models and evaluate plans

Data Management and Analysis:

  • Access and compile large volumes of custom and syndicated data from disparate sources
  • Verify data accuracy and develop databases, using proprietary systems and programs that facilitate econometric modeling

MediaCom Tools:

  • Become proficient in the use of MediaCom analytic planning tools
  • Train new users and support planning team in use of tools

Ad Hoc Projects:

  • Supporting specific planning questions (e.g. saturation levels, flighting, budget setting) that come up outside of specific analytic assignments
  • Provide relevant insights and actionable analytics
  • Be pro-active with the data available
  • Provide analytic support to new business pitches
  • Support both agency and Business Science pitch process
  • Ensure data quality and data documentation
  • Solve problems with internal and external clients on data issues
  • Determine information needs and sources of data
  • Develop new data sources and data management tools to ensure most effective methods are used
  • Understand the business processes and leverage the procured knowledge in planning, execution and reporting
  • Produce visuals (charts, graphs) and presentations for summary trend statistics
  • Clearly and effectively communicate findings to clients

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expertise in Excel
  • R and Python
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Able to produce high quality work within a fast paced, dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Basic understanding of industry research sources, such as Nielsen/IRI sales data or TV/online advertising data
  • Background in processing and analyzing information using statistical and econometric modeling

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, etc.) or with relevant coursework
  • 2-3 years related industry experience in statistics or data analysis is required
  • Master’s Degree is a plus
