Job Description
The Wichita Business Journal is searching for a reporter who can
build a list of strong sources, break news every day, write
sophisticated, engaging, compelling and impactful centerpieces and
own their beats. The person who joins our team will also be able to
mine data for stories, use social media as a reporting tool and
make connections with the Wichita business community. This person
will relish the opportunity to scoop the competition daily online
and in print.

source of business news in Wichita and south-central Kansas. We
live the mission of providing business intelligence to our readers
that helps them grow and run their organizations. We help Wichita
business leaders make connections and we drive the area business
conversation. The WBJ and its 40+ sister publications are part of
American City Business Journals, the No. 1 source for local
business news in the nation. We publish daily online, weekly in
print and deliver multiple daily email products, as well as host
monthly events attended by hundreds of business executives.
Build a source database.
Publish three scoops per day.
Produce at least one front-page centerpiece per month.
Write additional stories for print, including special reports and
special publications.
Work well in a collaborative, award-winning team environment.
Report and write at a high level on deadline.
Identify issues and topics that drive the business discussion in
Be competitive, analytical and investigative.
Audio/video production experience a plus.
Possess a strong work ethic.
Faithfully adhere to journalism ethics.
1-3 years of full-time professional journalism experience
Experience with using social media to source and promote
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
