Summary of Job: The Marketing & Public Relations Supervisor for Six Flags Great Escape Resort is a high-energy position with an emphasis on internal and external communications including media relations, event planning, website and social media management. A successful candidate will be strategic, innovative, have the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously, meeting all deadlines and providing support during crisis situations. A strong understanding and experience in social media preferred. This position reports directly to the Marketing Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Marketing Manager to develop and implement successful public relations plans and outreach.
  • Serve as social media agent by strategically engaging with fans on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Snapchat, while also looking for creative and out-of-the-box messaging for followers on these platforms.
  • Update and maintain The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom website and mobile app.
  • Work with Marketing Manager on the planning, coordination and execution of special events.
  • Research and develop story ideas, write news releases, fact sheets and targeted pitches to secure print, broadcast, online and trade coverage. Coordinate on-site media visits.
  • Serve as a resort spokesperson at the discretion of the Marketing Manager.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute large-scale events for media and publicity stunts to raise brand awareness and increase visitation.
  • Oversee community relations programs including donation requests, community events and character appearances.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with local and regional media contacts, and maintain media database for both core and outer markets.
  • Manage various print and multimedia projects, including the development of the park map and guide, brochures, interactive media kits, videos, etc.
  • Maintain and control expenses for assigned projects.
  • Assist Group Sales, Corporate Alliance and Lodge Marketing teams with special events, functions and projects as needed.
  • Assist with park operation responsibilities as needed. Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and be on-call year-round
  • Solid media knowledge & contacts
  • Special event experience; creative & detail orientated
  • Strong community involvement & commitment
  • BA/BS in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Theme Park background a plus
