The Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign is seeking a full-time lecturer in digital advertising. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment with summer session teaching opportunities. The position is expected to begin August 2019. The ideal candidate for this position should possess and demonstrate a high level of relevant skill, ability, and experience in content creation and dissemination across digital, mobile and social media communication channels and platforms. A Ph.D. in an advertising-related field (e.g., mass communication, strategic communication, marketing) or a master’s degree in advertising or related field and professional experience is required. Candidates must have experience using tools and software that are relevant to digital advertising and brand communication. Other professional experience in native advertising and content marketing, managing campaigns on social media platforms, online brand management, and/or digital PR is highly desirable. Previous experience teaching undergraduate students will also be considered a plus. This position will focus on developing and teaching skills-based undergraduate courses in digital advertising and public relations delivered in traditional and online formats. Opportunities for teaching in the online master’s degree in strategic brand communication also exist. About Us: The Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois was established in 1959 by Charles H. Sandage, considered by many to be the "father of advertising education." Today, the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising celebrates Sandage's legacy and his vision with a program that is broad enough that students learn critical, analytical and problem-solving skills, yet is also professionally relevant. Our faculty incorporates these values in teaching and scholarship that is focused on understanding, evaluating and communicating the many facets of advertising. The department is home to approximately 620 undergraduate advertising majors and 50 master’s students in the two master’s programs offered by the department.
