Creative Agency Director

The University of Texas at Tyler is seeking a Creative Agency Director responsible for leading UT Tyler’s internal creative agency to generate high-quality marketing deliverables for the agency’s internal clients. Working closely with the Vice President for Marketing, the director will lead the creative team to serve internal clients to create and implement marketing plans that fulfill the university’s strategic objectives. In addition to supervising the agency staff, the director will also maintain a portfolio of internal clients as a client manager. The director serves on the UT Tyler marketing leadership team and works closely with the Vice President for Marketing to support the university’s strategic plan. 

Job Duties

The director will:

-Supervise nine direct reports in creative agency, including evaluating productivity and effectiveness of direct reports’ work,

- Serve as a de facto creative director, either by providing creative direction for marketing campaigns and individual deliverables, or by delegating that responsibility to an agency staff member, then overseeing the outcome,

- Work closely with the web development team to ensure that UT Tyler’s web presence has 

- Ensure that appropriate marketing metrics are collected, reported and analyzed

- Be responsible for quality control of all official university social media,

- Oversee general quality control of all designed deliverables,

- Maximize the productivity of the agency, by utilizing staff, students and freelance resources, to meed deadlines and expectations of all internal clients,

- Serve as a client manager and manage the day-to-day work of one of three agency create groups, maintaining a portfolio of internal clients,

- Working with the Vice President and a lead designer, ensure that brand standards are enforced throughout the university,

- Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns using appropriate industry-standard metrics,

- Provide oversight for the university print shop,

- Other duties as assigned


Skills and Requirements

- Outstanding group project management skills

- Five years experience in a job with the primary responsibility of producing marketing deliverables

- Five years experience of managing a creative team

- Intermediate knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite

- Understanding of CRM concepts

- Experience with of online marketing tools analytics, including experience with the Google Analytics and Google Adwords, strongly preferred 

- A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, design or other related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred
