Grain Marketing Manager - Eastern Iowa Region
Primary Objective; Oversee the procurement, merchandising and logistics of corn and beans for a specific region or regions which will allow the grain department to meet the goals and objectives established.
Areas of Accountability: Grain
  • Understand, promote and manage to the IAS Purpose Statement.
  • Manage the region s grain position to ensure adequate ongoing financial success within the parameters of the IAS grain division policies and budgeting processes.
  • Lead, direct, supervise and monitor improvement and progress of the grain team within your region.
  • Determine the best use of the marketing strategies available for customers and coordinate with the region and location personnel and grain staff to promote those strategies.
  • Manage the logistics demands and opportunities of the locations within your region and communicate with the location/regional managers to accommodate those needs.
  • Oversee the company hedge position along with assisting in spread decisions and management.
  • Provide grain origination and marketing assistance to customers and region personnel ensuring completion of related transactions and contracts.
  • Manage farm movement and location inventories to ensure efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with region and location management teams to ensure grain region and location efficiency.
  • Work with the grain accounting team to ensure the proper information is made available that will result in timely and accurate information and execution of processes.
  • Create and maintain a positive attitude towards customers, co-workers and subordinates.
  • Organize, promote and present grain marketing meetings as determined.
  • Offer assistance from within your region during peak transaction times and absences.
  • Stay current with market information and industry trends through continuing education and participation in the industry.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Under graduate degree in business administration, marketing or other agricultural related field and/or minimum of five years of documented experience and success in the grain industry with merchandising, origination and logistics.
  • Displays a high level of initiative, understanding and commitment towards managing the grain region.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with adequate levels of focus including excellent mathematical skills.
  • Ability to create, communicate and implement information and ideas effectively in written and oral form.
  • Ability to organize and deal with change effectively and efficiently.
  • Microsoft Office Suite programs. Specifically have proficiency with Excel and the use of formulas and pivot tables.
  • I Series computer operation.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:
  • Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects with a minimum weight of 50 pounds. Also flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
  • Agricultural Environment Possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agriculture products.
