The Machine (“BTM”) is looking for a mid-level Sales Executive to join our team. We have enjoyed success since Day One. Now, over 3 years later, we are seeking to bring on a new team member to help us grow even further. Currently, we don’t have a “sales team.” This position is being created to explore and expand our business beyond what we’ve built so far.

The Position

The title is “Sales Executive.” This position will be dedicated to selling our services to prospective marketers. The individual will be responsible for sourcing, meeting, proposing and then selling. Managing relationships of client and agency contacts is crucial.

Sales Focus

BTM sells to marketers seeking creative marketing solutions. Our emphasis on selling is on smart ideas and then bringing those ideas to life/production of programs. 

The Sales Executive will focus primarily on direct clients.

BTM is focused on consumer-facing marketers, specifically major companies and well-known brands. As many marketers rely upon a network of agencies, BTM services these agencies as well. The exact source types are as follows:

  • Clients direct [primary focus]
  • Oher types: Media agencies, creative agencies, social agencies & PR firms

The position is based in New York City, to operate out of our Union Square office.

The sales targets (marketers) are nationwide.

The sales executive will have coverage of any/all marketers and regions. There would be one sales executive with zero conflicts or competition with other sales representatives.


The Sales Executive will be provided strong support and guidance. We want the person in this position to feel aided and freed up to sell. Support will exist in the following forms:

  • Proposal generation team writes proposals
  • Project budgets prepared by other staff members
  • Senior staff to attend meetings
  • Access to industry databases and resources
  • Attendance at industry events such as conferences


All candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • College degree
  • 3-5 years sales role experience
  • Strong knowledge of the advertising/marketing/media industries
  • Experience with proposal generation
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Positive, energetic, self-confident, self-motivated
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with Office and sales tracking tool such as Salesforce or Pipedrive

Top candidates will be comfortable working for a small business and out of a small office. We are open, interact a lot, and have a lot of communication.

Compensation & Policies

The compensation package includes the following:

  • $75,000 base salary
  • Commission plan
  • Insurance stipend
  • 401k plan (starting Year 2)

Basic employee policies:

  • Expected work hours are 9am-6pm, M-F
  • We are real people with real lives, so just be cool
  • We don’t have an HR department

Our Industry

“Experiential marketing” is the creation of experiences for consumers to engage marketers’ products or services in hands-on ways. “Event marketing” is also the term often used. The business overlaps with outdoor (OOH) media, PR, and social media.

We believe marketing trends clearly show that experiential marketing is a booming industry and we feel BTM is in a fantastic position to continue to grow as more and more marketers turn to experiences to engage consumers in ways that traditional advertising cannot.

We target and service national marketers. Our client roster includes Jeep, CBS, AT&T, Comcast, Foot Locker, Ulta Beauty, and MTV.
