The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Senior Manager, Email Marketing for the Digital department. The main responsibility of this position is to manage the organization s communications to maximize and improve advocacy participation, donation income, email list growth and deliverability, supporter cultivation and donor retention.
This position will be responsible for:
  • Overseeing the email communication schedule using creative communications and list segmentation techniques to drive advocacy and fundraising and build supporter relationships through timely, relevant, and action-oriented content;
  • Managing and training a team of email marketing strategists to write, produce, review and send emails;
  • Ensuring quality control of web content including proofing, messaging and execution for all email communications;
  • Developing a roadmap for the Email marketing team such as developing opportunities for testing and growth;
  • Managing relationships with external technology support consultants;
  • Collaborating with marketing team members on strategy, copywriting, design and user experience;
  • Analyzing email campaign performance and suggesting improvements to optimize and refine existing email strategy;
  • Partnering with the department s senior director and others to determine future direction of online initiatives to successfully meet advocacy and fundraising goals; will also be responsible for staying up to date on new technologies and digital strategies.
  • Bachelor s degree in related field or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in digital marketing or related field with at least 3 years experience in email marketing required; experience in a nonprofit environment is highly desired;
  • Must have 3 years of relevant CRM experience;
  • Must also have 3 years of supervisory experience and/or team leadership experience or equivalent training;
  • Must have solid project management skills and experience, including effective task delegation;
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills along with ability to present and communicate with staff at all levels;
  • Must have ability to balance strategic, creative, and analytical thinking to be able to execute business objectives;
  • Familiarity and interest in animal protection issues is highly desired.
