The Ohio University E. W. Scripps School of Journalism invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Strategic Communication, beginning fall 2019. This non-tenure track appointment is for a nine-month, annually renewable position. The successful candidate will teach a minimum of three (3) courses per semester primarily in the strategic communication track, a curriculum that integrates previous advertising and public relations sequences.

The faculty member will also advise the school’s AAF and/or PRSSA chapters, work with 1804 Communications (the student-created communications agency), lead the unique global teaching partnership with Leipzig University, Hong Kong Baptist and Ohio University and other international universities, teach an upper-level course with the Office of Global Opportunities Group during the spring requiring travel abroad, and help create new certificate programs for the strategic communication track. The faculty member will have opportunities to participate in the summer High School Journalism Workshop and other programs as assigned.

A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, advertising or related field, and significant professional experience is required. Proficiency in strategic communication writing and the ability to teach a variety of courses (diversity, management, creative, media, and research) in the school are essential. The ideal candidate also would have strong ties to the professional community.

The E. W. Scripps School of Journalism is committed to the principles of journalism and widely recognized for outstanding teaching and research. The 23 full-time faculty members in the school teach approximately 650 undergraduate majors in the News and Information, and Strategic Communication tracks, and approximately 30 graduate students. The program is accredited by ACEJMC.
